Scan 1D / 2D codes with our SCORPION rugged tablets and handhelds
Barcode scanning is one of the most important features a modern tablet or industrial smartphone has to include. Particularly for warehouses and general logistics, a barcode reader speeds up processing in the merchandise management system enormously. The majority of our SCORPION rugged tablets and handhelds are already equipped with a scanner for reading 1D or 2D barcodes as a standard. However, we also offer the option of retrofitting a barcode reader.
Which codes can be scanned?
1D Codes
1D codes have long been established in the industries or retail and denote a series of arranged bars forming a so-called one-dimensional code. Each of our SCORPION devices offers the possibility to read 1D barcodes, these include for example Code 39, Code 128, EAN, UPC and Code 2/5 interleaved.
2D Codes
All SCORPION barcode readers are capable of recognizing two-dimensional codes, allowing more data to be read on the same space. This includes stacked 2D codes such as PDF417 and Codablock A as well as 2D matrices. In addition, the built-in camera also recognizes classic QR codes.
Mobile devices with compact coded 2D imager
The SCORPION rugged tablets & handhelds are equipped with the N3680 series 2D imager as an option (depending on the device). The imager supports a variety of character types, including 1D, 2D or PDF417 barcodes. In addition, it also includes advanced features that enable the reading of poorly printed barcodes or allow barcodes to be read on a smartphone screen. Thanks to these features, the N3680 series 2D imager is a great help when reading mobile coupons and loyalty cards, e-tickets, electronic airline tickets or barcode payment systems for mobile wallet applications.
